BPA-FREE, MERCURY-FREE FILLINGS

We care about the materials that are being placed into your mouths because of what they might do to your body and health.

Our fillings are mercury-free; that’s a no-brainer.

We also use BPA-free tooth-colored filling materials. But it’s not as simple as that. BPA, which is short for bisphenol A, is only one of many compounds that are used in the manufacture of plastics and resins. So while we are diligent about seeking materials that are as safe as reasonably possible, the unfortunate truth is that “BPA-free” means very little. BPB, BPC, BPF, BPS—all these have also raised concerns over their potential for endocrine disruption. And who knows how many more BP_s there are?

More and more manufacturers are claiming to be “biocompatible.” Meanwhile, more and more MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) for products are becoming more opaque, simply stating “proprietary” for their chemical ingredients lists. How do we know? We’ve been doing our research for you.

We know this can be discouraging to some. But don’t lose hope. We are aware of this ubiquitous issue. And sometimes, it just takes a conversation with someone who is aware to be willing to discuss your options with you. We want to advise you as well as we can to encourage you to make the best decisions for the present you as well as for the future you.

Contact us at Restoration Dentistry to discuss your options.
